CORINNA GORDON
|
Corinna Gordon was born and raised on her fathers estate in Englands Lake District. After completing her higher education in England, she received diplomas in Fine Art, Art History, Italian Language, and Italian Literature at the University of Florence. She then returned to London to endure her debutante season, which provided her with the unique opportunity of being a houseguest in some of the most historic, stately homes in Britain. Her enthusiasm for architecture and interiors led her to study and learn all she could from centuries of style and proportion. She successfully decorated her own homes in London and the South of France, which were widely copied and keenly reported on by the media.
Corinna brought her classical training and passion for antiques to the realm of interiors. Decorating friends homes evolved into the completion of more complex projects in England, Scotland, France, Monaco, the Virgin Islands, and a private island in Fiji. She has privately studied the history of architecture, color psychology, landscape design and contemporary furniture design while learning her trade through years of hands-on experience. She is happy to offer her clients the services of a highly regarded Feng Shui Master, and/or a first class Art Consultant when appropriate.
Having traveled extensively around the world, Corinna feels that India, Morocco, Thailand, China, Bhutan and Indonesia have greatly influenced her appreciation of global cultures, ethnic design and the decorative arts. A watercolor painter, calligrapher, miniaturist and jewelry designer herself, she is at present designing her own line of furniture, fabrics and accessories (some of which will be available for purchase on this website in the near future). She often finds that her clients enjoy sharing her excitement in searching for antique fans and small antique mirrors, which she collects.
As a result of a long friendship and collaboration with Interior Designer Linda Garland from Bali, Corinna is a long-time advocate of respecting the environment and building with an ecological conscience. She is one of the founding members and supporters of the Green Building Alliance of Santa Barbara and is delighted to source sustainable building materials and find creative ways to conserve energy and recycle. As a breast cancer survivor, she sits on the board of the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara, hosting their annual fund raiser at her historic home in Montecito. She is actively involved on committees for the Music Academy of the West, the Parc Foundation, the Page Youth Center and the Santa Barbara Bowl. Corinna designs & hand makes high carat/gemstone jewelry. To view that website visit spenderella.com
Corinna and her husband, acclaimed international photographer Larry Dale Gordon, lived between Big Sur and Los Angeles for ten years, before moving to Montecito six years ago. They have settled into a century old stone carriage house with great charm and character, and hope to remain in that wonderful village community indefinitely.
